Beijing BGI-GBI Biotech is the recognized leader in the Chinese diagnostic industry. In 1994, Wang Jian and several other Chinese scholars who have returned from the overseas founded GBI Biotech (Beijing) Co., Ltd., which is the recognized leader in the Chinese diagnostic industry. After participating in and successfully completing National 95 Science and Technology Key Project, the achievement, Diagnostic Kit for Antibody to HIV1+2, made a great condition to prevention and control for AIDS in China. GBI Biotech (Beijing) Co., Ltd. renamed formally Beijing BGI-GBI Biotech Co., Ltd. in April, 2003.
BGI-GBI Biotech stands among the first diagnostic reagent manufacturers that meet the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations in China. The company focuses primarily on the development and manufacturing of immunodiagnostic products. For over ten years, the company has enjoyed a rapid growth of national market share. Our customers include blood transfusion services, clinical laboratories and disease control and prevention centres.

Genomics Group— Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI)
As an industrial subsidiary of Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI), BGI-GBI Biotech was involved in the international Human Genomics Project among other major research projects. BGI’s acknowledged technical advantage in life sciences also helps BGI-GBI Biotech’s development in the diagnostic area.
BGI intends to make itself an integrated group of scientific research, technical development and industrialization. BGI has established both a research-oriented infrastructure consisting of a genomics group, a proteomics group, a bioinformatics group and a high throughout drug-screening group; and a market-oriented infrastructure focusing on diagnostic products and technical services.

●In 1994, BGI-GBI Biotech Co., Ltd was established in Beijing, China;
●In 1996, BGI-GBI assumed one project of The "Ninth five-year" National Key Technology Research and Development Program, and fulfilled it successfully;
●In 2000, BGI-GBI obtained GMP approval of SFDA;
●In 2001, Dr. Wang Jian, the founder and president of BGI-GBI, was awarded the prize of “Enterprise Starting-up Prize for The First Group of returned overseas researchers”;
●In 2001, BGI-GBI first developed the ELISA Test Kit “Anti-Treponema Pallidum(TP) Antibody ELISA Kit” in this field in China, and gained both domestic and international patents;
●In 2002, BGI-GBI was titled as “High and new technology Enterprises” by Chinese government;
●In 2003, BGI-GBI started the Research Project of SARS detection and accomplished this project successfully, then helped Chinese government control the overspreading of SARS；
●In 2005, BGI-GBI was awarded the prize of “Beijing Scientists’ Technology Prize”;
●In 2005, BGI-GBI successfully got the bid of 3,182,250 ELISA Kits, in the Open Tendering Meeting organized by Department of Disease Control of Ministry of Health, P.R. China.
●In 2006, One of our Core product; HIV… ranked Top 1 in the National Clinical Quality Evaluation Activities of HIV ELISA Kits organized by Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
